Episode 206 – Kimberly Spencer – Claim Your Crown, Claim Your Sovereignty
“Identity is a really beautiful topic that I love to speak on and that I coach on because it comes down to deciding, who do you want to be? And I think that so often we are making that decision based on our past experiences, not necessarily the person that needs to be showing up for the future goals of what you want to achieve. It’s my job as a coach to bridge that gap as far as where are you now, who are you being now, and who do you need to be in order to be the person who has the things that you want to have, do, and be.” – Kimberly Spencer
- Kimberly Spencer is an award-winning high-performance coach, Amazon best-selling author, and the founder of CrownYourself.com, helping visionary leaders transform their self-limiting stories, build their empire, stand out fearlessly, and make the income and the impact they deserve.
- From her 10+ year battle with bulimia to becoming a certified Pilates instructor, Miss Congeniality, 3X 6-Figure Business Owner, 5X Marathon runner, 6X WEGO Health Activist Award nominee, Kimberly is proof that it’s better to make your own mold than to conform to someone else’s.

- In this episode Kimberly and Patrick connect on some mutual favourite topics – entrepreneurship, values, integrity, and ownership. With many business and life experiences to draw from, Kimberly discusses some of the processes she works through with her coaching clients, an important part of which is personal branding. Finding congruence with our values and integrity is part of that process, and when they’re not aligned, that usually manifests in our physical body. Kimberly reflects on the trauma she has experienced in her life is crystal clear on the necessity for total ownership and commitment in her healing journey – both macro and micro – to build compassion, resilience and success. As a bonus, learn a quick breathing tip for regulating our nervous system and bringing us back to center!

- [02:34] Kimberly and Patrick get crackin’ as Kimberly shares the transformative work she is currently doing, the kinds of clients she works with and how their work together unfolds.
- [07:30] Loss of identity. Kimberly talks about how she sees that showing up for her clients, in particular right now, millennials and Gen Xers.
- [10:33] The values conversation is a favourite! Kimberly articulates that we will know what our values are by looking at our schedule. Instead of should-ing all over ourselves and flying the flag of someone else’s values, Kimberly encourages people to examine what their own values truly are.
- [14:39] Developing our personal brand is an important first step, whether we are employees or entrepreneurs. Kimberly describes how she works with her clients to get to the core of who they really are by working through a process to strip away illusions and negative emotion to find congruence within and take action toward what they truly desire.
- [19:09] Kimberly shares her definition of integrity, where she often sees misalignments showing up, and shares a personal example of why micro commitments are as important as macro.
- [21:46] Patrick and Kimberly further unpack personal integrity in relation to physicality and spirituality. As a former Pilates instructor Kimberly understands the mind/body connection. When we experience misalignments in any area of our life it will show up as pain in our physical body from dull aches to acute pain.
- [26:04] Kimberly describes what someone would come to her for and uses a metaphor to illustrate how entrepreneurs often get started by jumping off a cliff and flapping their arms, vs. having a structure that would create far more ease and success.
- [30:25] The similarities of screenwriting and entrepreneurship. Kimberly shows how two of her pursuits have quite a bit in common!
- [33:31] A second generation entrepreneur, Kimberly has seen the positive difference of being raised by entrepreneurial parents vs. employees. Our environment heavily dictates our level of success and Kimberly’s parents always encouraged her own entrepreneurial journey and were her biggest supporters.
- [40:58] Kimberly shares how her childhood traumas and healing work not only helped her to become who she is today, but also gave her a broader perspective of compassion for her father. She highlights the difference between being a victim of a circumstance vs. cultivating a victim mindset. Ownership in processing trauma means taking 100% ownership of only our own actions – not someone else’s – without villainizing ourselves.
- [50:49] Patrick reflects on extreme ownership, and perception.
- [53:16] Remember to breathe. Kimberly’s training in Pilates and biodynamic trauma and breath work release helps with her own processing work and is a tool she uses with her clients. It is incredibly useful to regulate our nervous system and build our muscle of resilience. Even intentional breathing for 90 seconds is a game changer to bring us back to centre.
- [60:04] After a recent health challenge, Kimberly took time for self-reflection which showed her where she could change and set her foundation and stay in integrity without pressuring herself into sickness.
- [66:39] Let’s rip into the rapid fire! Apple or Android? Favourite movie; favourite band and song and its special connection; room-desk-car; favourite swear word; beautiful message at the gates.
- [70:28] Kimberly’s gratitude.
